What is the Iron Legion
Avengers Kids Program?

Official definition? CrossFit is a branded fitness regimen that involves constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. It is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise for all age groups, with an emphasis on clean nutrition.

What is CrossFit Youth at Iron Legion? Just like in our adult programs, our CrossFit Youth programs are specifically created to develop your GPP. GPP is General Physical Preparedness. This means that we focus on your overall state. We do not isolate body parts in our CrossFit program. We will be utilizing your entire body from head to toe. Educating our youth on how to safely and effectively use their bodies to achieve physical and mental results is the first step in forging better humans.

We safely use unique combinations of weightlifting, strongman, wrestling, self-defense, jiu-jitsu, cardio, and gymnastics to build your strength, enhance your cardio, and create unstoppable endurance. The result? GPP. The secondary result? Aesthetic differences you can be proud of and ironclad confidence that you can take on anything.

Meet Our CrossFit Instructors

Ted Dreaver

Ted Dreaver, fitness aficionado and founder of Iron Legion, is a natural-born leader who has always prioritized overall health and wellness. He lived a life on the road as a kid and trained in the gym when he could. The globo-gym space always bothered him. It was sterile, faceless, impersonal, and completely devoid of social connection. There was no real push to get better. This drive for personal connection and community, paired with his passion for teaching others, led to the Iron Legion that exists today.

“CrossFit in and of itself for us is a fitness program that rejects the status quo, we’re not big on the globo-gym style where you don’t know anyone. You are never left on your own”.

Kaitie Neratka

My philosophy as a coach has always been quality over quantity. Whether it’s weight, skill level or reps. If you can’t do a skill at its most basic level extremely well you do not need to be adding weight or speed or technical difficulty. I know some may disagree with this and of course there are exceptions to every rule.. BUT it never fails that when I have two athletes at the same level and one has patience to work on perfecting a skill and another rushes to just do the cool stuff, every single time the athlete who took the time will pass up the athlete who didn’t.

I am a L1 certified Crossfit Coach. I have my masters in exercise science and rehabilitation and my NASM nutrition certification.

Terrie Bourgeois

Our American Jiu Jitsu instructor, Terrie Bourgeois, has been studying and perfecting his Jiu Jitsu and martial art techniques for over 16 years. His ethos and methodology are to train his students to master Jiu Jitsu, leveling up to be superior to him in both technique and foundational understanding. He teaches from a conceptual approach and on a macro level, giving his students the tools they need to produce protective, tactical maneuvers on the fly while fighting.

“I choose to teach a conceptual approach. It is incredibly complex. It takes decades to get good at and this form of fighting is incredibly dynamic. The best way to teach something incredibly complex, is to teach with a philosophical approach. If my students aren’t better than me, I haven’t done my job.”
